Well, what you're describing is not an "embargo" and using that term is misleading. Of course, that is not to say that there aren't legitimate criticisms with respect to freedom of expression and habeas corpus and the other things that you mention. But calling this an "embargo" needless muddies any discussion of these matters.

As for your comment "It takes being Cuban or living as a Cuban for an extended period of time to get to know the real Cuba.", I find this kind of obscurantism and solipsism to be a particularly dishonest and manipulative move. Non-Cubans in the US are perfectly entitled and perfectly able to reach judgements about Cuba without having lived there. In the same way, we don't need to have lived in Germany between 1933 and 1945 to know that Hitler was bad. There are other, and in fact superior, ways of arriving at conclusions other than person experience. And you wouldn't say to a world leading expert on Mars to say, "well, you need to have been there to really understand it."
